Rool is your private AI workspace. Bring your files, ideas and AI together in one place, on your own machine in the cloud. Unlike mainstream AI, Rool never sells your data, shows no ads and never uses your content to train AI. Your data is stored in Finland, under EU law. It's AI that runs on your terms, with full control and privacy. Built for privacy-conscious individuals, teams and creators. Try Rool free and own your AI.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Casper, founder of Rool.
Rool is built on one idea: if you hand an AI your real work, that work should live somewhere that's yours.
Every user gets their own Rool Machine, a private Linux computer in the cloud with the AI running inside it. Your files, chats and memory stay there, walled off from everyone else. It remembers last week's work, runs software, handles multi-step tasks, and you can invite your team into the same machine. Web, iPhone and Android.
What is unique about Rool
- Not a wrapper: We run our own AI models.
- Your data is stored in Finland, under Irish and EU law
- Never used to train AI
- No ads. No data sales. No cookies or tracking pixels on rool.dev
- Export your data at any time
Free forever: no card, 2 machines with 1 GB each, credits that refill every hour.
What would it take for you to trust an AI with your real work? We're here all day.
I use Rool for everything I wanted to used to use AI tools for but didn't want to because of privacy issues and simply not wanting my data to be used for training.
Handling tedious text-oriented tasks, giving me a leg up in research, summarizing chaotic content and, yes, the occasional "hey how would my hair look with a bit trimmed on the side". But now it remembers context, it keeps memories and files, and they are secure.
In addition, it is important to me that it is is run and hosted in the EU as that, at least in my mind, adds another layer of commitment to privacy.
I need it only a few times a day, so it makes sense to me to rather pay a small subscription rather to invest into an elaborate and expensive self-hosted solution.
@zarko_kuvalja Thank you! Yes we try to be the middle ground between the ultimate control of a self-hosted AI, and a cloud solution: A personal computer in the cloud where we run enough of the stack (GPU is the important one here) to make the privacy guarantees we do. Cheers!
I can genuinely recommend Rool. I’ve used it for a few months now as a personal assistant keeping track of my different life projects like house renovation, applications/legal stuff and other more longterm goals. I like to drip information to Rool so it over time updates each project and reminds me of what to do next.
One of the main reasons I use Rool is that it’s private and hosted in EU, so no foreign billionaires can misuse my data.
The machine you access only does things when you ask it to, which took a little getting used to. But now I usually check in daily, ask about the status and get things done. It’s actually less stressful than an app that constantly pings you for feedback.
All in all a really useful tool and I highly recommend trying it out.
Martin
@fragnite Thanks for the support, Martin! Hope the renovation is closer to done than the paperwork!

Hi, I've used Rool so far for things from building my own baby inference engine for learning how the inference process really works, to a simple AI product comparison analysis, to helping me create weird and wonderful homelab remote access solutions.
My mini inference engine was trained and runs in my Rool machine and actually produces answers to questions.
It's trained on a few sentences, repeated multiple times, about ducks living on a pond, so of course all its answers are duck-based, which I think mainstream LLMs could benefit from.
Rool is unique: a perfect balance of power and simplicity. Highly recommended!
P.S. I don't know Casper but emailed him out of the blue and he took the time to reply to me personally (he assured me he's human!). This is the way to build and run a startup.
Rool has consistently been able to answer questions that other AI companies have failed at... 2 quick examples are extracting and analysing data from .fit files to develop training strategies, and trawling the net to understand how to use 20 year old laptops to control 15 year old guitar fx hardware. CoPilot and ChatGPT both claimed they could help but weren't able to deliver, whereas the Rool agent just dug in and got on with it. Excellent.
@dominic_stockton Thank you! The guitar fx one made me smile. Getting 20 year old laptops to talk to 15 year old hardware is my kind of challenge. I still dream about connecting Rool with my old ZX Spectrum.
Rool have been working great for me in my personal life. I like that all the data stays mine and stored in the EU. I like how the tool use is more transparent and that it's all files in my personal machine. I notice no raw llm difference vs using the labs. Keep up the good work Casper and the team 🙏
@anton_hager Thank you for being here today! And yes, we promise to keep working to improve Rool. Its hard work, lots of fun, and so far rather well received, which is extremely motivating.
I use rool.dev every day. I really like it over other LLMs and do trust its security and precision.
@lux_hollow Thank you! For being a Rool user, and for adding your voice here today.
