Yaps is your private AI super app, bringing powerful offline AI tools together on your device. Use speech-to-text to dictate into any app, transcribe audio and video, turn text into speech, chat with your Markdown notes, and create captions. Local AI models keep your data on your device and work entirely offline. No scripts to wrangle, no per-use cloud credits, just one AI assistant for your everyday work. Available on Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, iPhone and iPad.

2. Is integration with Astra via the Codex plugin store means that Astra can drive the tool entirely. And so even though it's offline and it provides all of these super tool like functions, they're completely controllable via the CLI and Astra can actually act as the driver. Which means Astra can drive the video editing. Audio cleaning auto captions. Assistant memory, speech generation, you name it.

Hey guys, I'm Richard, husband, father of 5 kids and the founder of Yaps.ai - a collection of private, powerful AI tools that run entirely on-device (no cloud).
How did we get here?
My main client ran out of money in February and so I started working on this in March like my life depended on it! My baseline was I love AI dictation tools, so started there, and then addressed all the issues I had. Eventually, I started expanding into other verticals, and well,... I ended up with a super app that I love! The plan is to build the consumer facing equivalent of Hugging Face, by bringing the applied AI features you'd appreciate in other popular tools, offline, and into the world of local models.
Who's this for?
Anyone who's privacy conscious, a generalist, a present/future AI power user, subscribed to too many tools, subscribed to not enough tools 😂, looking to save money, studying, working in a profession where data leaks are problematic, nomads, etc.
Honestly the app touches on so many verticals, it is the hootsuite for local AI tools.
Why Now?
Honestly thought about launching here so many times but kept pushing it back. I'm a perfectionist. I last launched here 4 years ago and I'm just so aware of all the ways I could make Yaps better. But I hit $10k a couple days ago and thought, "what are you actually waiting for?" 😅
