Markify is a free, cross-platform Markdown editor for Windows, macOS and Linux. It's built to be genuinely lightweight, under 10MB, while still covering the essentials: a folder explorer, live preview, PDF export, dark/light themes, and support for 4 languages. Made for people who just want to open a note and start writing, without waiting on a heavy app to load. Open source, AGPL-3.0.
Hey hunters 👋
I built Markify because I wanted a Markdown editor that stayed out of my way. Every option I tried either felt slow to open, or was missing things I actually needed, like a proper file browser or PDF export. So I set myself one rule while building it: keep the whole app under 10MB.
A few things I'm proud of:
- A clean sidebar to browse a whole folder of notes, with folders loading only when you open them
- Full PDF export that keeps your images and special characters looking right
- 4 languages out of the box (English, French, German, Spanish)
- It opens instantly, even on older machines
It's live on the Microsoft Store, and I'm now working on getting it into official Linux app stores too, if you've done that before, I'd love your advice in the comments.
Everything's open source: github.com/Martzcode/Markify
Would love your feedback, feature requests, or just to hear what you currently use for taking notes in Markdown. 🙏
