For two years I have been struggling with VSCode, Windsurf, Cursor, Codex, Claude, OpenCode and other coding agents to contain their hallucinations, drift, overbuilding, silent changes, etc. For past few months I am using Codex solely for all coding and non coding tasks. The bigger problem was one agent chat window didnt know what the other was doing leading to overlapping changes.
I tried vaurius simple and complex solutions like agents.md, yaml, json, task separation, harnesses like opencode, omo, etc nothing helped. I didnt need a AI developer team, I needed a way to monitor task windows without sitting 12 hrs a day over 10 tabs.
And one day I discovered something sitting right there. Codex scheduled tasks and task messaging! One discoverly led to another and something useful emerged.
I built Codex Coordinator because running several projects in Codex meant constantly opening every thread, checking for overlap of agents, and figuring out what was happening where. I have 5-10 threads open at a time across 2-4 projects. I needed a way to ensure all threads handle one area each, where I could see and manage all the tasks and and kept work across chats separated. Its got some simple features, works based on local skills, and docs, etc.. needs no dependencies, uses python for one script. Thats it. It also has a Mission Control local dashboard which gives a view of all running tasks and any conflicts.
Coordinator auto initialises in each project folder once installed from plugin marketplace. It doesnt change anything inside your project. Cordinator files live under standard .codex/coordination folder under each project and some global files under user directories on your machine. Deep review by Doctor uses codex tokens, standard run is local.
