Hey everyone I'm Charlie, one of the makers behind SnapMonster.
The idea started from a simple question: what if literally anything around you a sneaker, a coffee mug, whatever's on your desk could become a real card with its own stats and art? Not pre-made assets from a set, but something generated from the actual object you're holding.
So that's what SnapMonster does: snap a photo, our AI turns it into a one-of-a-kind monster card (custom art + power + element), then you build a 3v3 squad and battle other players turn-by-turn using elemental advantages, trade cards, and grow your collection. It's also fully playable in English and Japanese.
We're still early, so I'd love to hear: what's the first object you'd snap? And if you've already played it, tell us where the battle system feels off still tuning it.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
Solo indie dev here. SnapMonster started with a simple question my kid basically
asked me: "what if THIS could fight?" — pointing at a broccoli.
So I built it. Point your camera at any real-world object — a shoe, a snack,
a toy — and AI turns it into your own original monster card. But here's the part
I spent most of the year on: **the game after the image.**
Every AI photo tool stops at the picture. SnapMonster's monsters actually work:
⚔️ Two battle modes — 30-second quick battles and Pokémon-doubles-style squad battles
🏆 Ranked ladder with ELO and tiers
🔗 Challenge links — drop your link anywhere, friends log in and try to beat
your team; or open a live room and battle in real time
🔄 Trade cards with friends, or gamble one into the wonder-swap pool
🖨️ Print your monsters as real poker-size trading cards (my favorite feature —
the reaction when a kid holds a card they "made" from their own toy)
🎁 Turn a monster into a gift-card link with a personal message
A few honest notes:
- It's a web PWA — no app store, installs straight from the browser
- You get 10 free summons with zero signup, so you can judge it in a minute
- Sign up with code PH2026 in the promo box on the sign-up page for some bonus energy on top (energy is what AI generations cost)
- Stats and battle results are computed server-side — the AI only does the
creative part, so no prompt-hacking your way to a god card
- English, 中文 and 日本語
It's family-friendly by design: you snap objects, not people.
I'd love to know: **what's the weirdest object on your desk right now?**
Snap it and post your monster below — I'll be here all day. 🥦👾
