Hey Product Hunt,
I’m excited to share AskMurdock today.
The idea came from a very ordinary problem: most of us sign legal documents without really knowing what parts deserve attention.
A lease. An NDA. A freelance agreement. A consulting contract. A service agreement. These documents can shape your money, time, obligations, rights, and risk, but they are usually written for institutions, not for the person being asked to sign.
AskMurdock is my attempt to make that moment less opaque.
You upload a contract, and AskMurdock helps turn it into something more understandable: key terms, obligations, risk signals, confusing clauses, and follow-up questions grounded in the document. Where available, it also brings in jurisdiction-aware context so the review is not just generic contract commentary.
The product evolved from a simple document summarizer into something more structured. The more I worked on it, the clearer the goal became: don’t just summarize the agreement, help people understand what matters before they commit.
A few principles shaped the build:
1. Keep it practical, not lawyerly
2. Focus on everyday legal moments, not enterprise legal ops
3. Make the review grounded in the actual document
4. Help users ask better questions when they do need a lawyer
For launch, we’re running a promo:
- Brief Review: free
- Audit Review: $4.99
- Counsel Review: $19.99
I’d love feedback from renters, freelancers, consultants, solopreneurs, and anyone who has ever opened a contract and thought, “I know I should read this, but I don’t know what I’m looking for.”
Thanks for checking it out.
