I’m the maker behind Monnei. This project started because of a very specific problem in my own home: I watched my wife track our household expenses in a notebook for years. While the system worked, it was fragile - notes got lost, totals were hard to calculate, and it was tough to see the "big picture" of our budget.
When I looked for an app for her, I found that most were either too complex with cluttered UIs or required syncing bank accounts, which we weren't comfortable with. I wanted something that felt as fast as a notebook but as powerful as a modern dashboard.
