VocalCraft is a 100% offline + lifetime ownership Windows dictation app powered by Whisper AI. Press Caps Lock to arm a sleek, floating Post-it note UI you can drag anywhere. Tap Spacebar to speak, and it instantly pastes your text (or live-translates any language to English) directly into your active app. It keeps a private, local log of everything you dictate. Auto-detects NVIDIA GPUs or falls back to your CPU. Stop paying 20/motogiveyourdatatothecloud.Getalifetimelicensefor11 USD!

Hey Product Hunt π I'm Daniel.
I built VocalCraft out of sheer frustration. I was trying to dictate code into Roo Code, and the built-in Windows dictation (Win+H) was a nightmare. I had to reach for my mouse to pause it, and with my slight Dutch accent, it kept blurting out absolute gibberish. I was losing my mind.
So I built the tool I actually wanted to use. Itβs the very first piece of software Iβve ever shipped.
**The Workflow (No-code, click-install-done):**
1οΈβ£ Press `Caps Lock` to arm the floating Post-it note UI.
2οΈβ£ Click anywhere and press `Spacebar` to start dictating. Just ramble.
3οΈβ£ Press `Spacebar` again. It instantly transcribes locally, handles the punctuation perfectly, and pastes the text wherever your cursor is.
**The "Aha!" Moments:**
* **The speed:** I don't need perfectly typed, slow text anymore. I just want to ramble, press space, and hit enter. My hands never have to leave the keyboard to grab a mouse.
* **The translation magic:** I was testing it and said, *"De kat krabt de krullen van de trap"* in Dutch. Because I had it set to English, it instantly translated and pasted it perfectly. If you work with international teams (like my colleagues in the Philippines), or you're sitting at a table with someone speaking another language, it just handles it.
* **The logs:** Iβm a data freak. VocalCraft keeps a local text log of everything you say, so you never lose a thought.
* **The hardware:** I initially built it for my massive NVIDIA rig, then tried it on a 10-year-old laptop and it froze. I went back to the drawing board and completely rewrote the engine so it gracefully falls back to CPU threading if you don't have a GPU.
*(Pro tip: If you start typing and notice you're in ALL CAPS... you probably left it armed! Just hit Caps Lock again so it doesn't accidentally dictate your frustrations π).*
I'm using this every single day, which is the only reason I felt confident enough to share it.
Iβd love to know if this solves a problem for you too. There is a 7-day free trial on the site, and a live poll where you can vote on what I build for V2.
If you use dictation right now, what is the one feature that drives you absolutely crazy? Let me know below! π
This works way better than I thought, great price too. Thank you π
@michelle_ferronΒ ooh thanks I'm glad you are enjoying it - any features you're missing just let me know and I'll definitely look at the feasibility of implementing those for the next version around π
