I built PicoAI after getting tired of overpaying in Claude Code and Codex, hitting rate limits, and not knowing how to actually spend less.
I found tools that showed usage, but not where the waste was coming from or what to change. So I dug deep into Claude Code and Codex CLI docs, workflows and turned prompt patterns, commands, caching behavior, and context management into practical savings techniques.
That became PicoAI: a session analysis dashboard, a deep library of 40+ actionable techniques, and a real time prompt optimizer that catches costly prompt habits before you send them.
Some techniques are quick wins, while others are more advanced and easy to overlook, like disabling hidden background costs from permission related classifiers, avoiding unnecessary web searches, and cache breaking workflow patterns that quietly make sessions more expensive.
Under the hood, PicoAI combines regex with an optional LLM engine to optimize real-time code prompt and has been continously tuned on 10,000+ real coding session messages.
