Most Mahjong tools focus on gameplay or static tutorials. MJ Mentor focuses on learning decision-making. Instead of just showing moves, it explains the reasoning behind different tile choices so players understand strategy. The goal isn’t to play for you, but to help beginners and intermediate players develop intuition through guided suggestions and explanations.

This started because I tried learning Mahjong a few years ago but never really got past the basics. Most resources explain the rules, but not the thinking behind each move. When I recently played again during Lunar New Year, I realised how much of Mahjong is actually about decision-making and tile efficiency, which beginners rarely get feedback on.
So I built MJ Mentor, a tool that suggests possible moves and explains the reasoning behind them. The goal isn’t to play the game for you, but to help players understand why certain decisions are stronger.
The current version is an MVP built to test whether explanation-driven learning is useful for Mahjong players. I'm especially curious about:
• Did the explanations help you understand strategy?
• Would something like this help beginners learn faster?
• What features would make it more useful?
Would love any feedback, especially from Mahjong players here! 🀄
