WebTerm

A browser terminal sandbox for learning CLI without fear

WebTerm is a browser-based terminal sandbox for the AI era. As AI coding tools become mainstream, CLI literacy matters for both engineers and non-engineers. But many beginners are afraid to open their local terminal because they might break something. WebTerm provides an ephemeral, no-signup, free, and safe environment to learn Linux commands, Git workflows, and CLI-based AI tools. Currently in beta — feedback is welcome!

Safely run even rm -rf / — all in your browser.
WebTerm now lets you safely run even the most dangerous Linux commands like `rm -rf /`, right in your browser — no setup needed. I’ve added wildcard (glob) support, expanded command and option coverage, and made interactions clearer for beginners. Unlike other terminal emulators or learning tools, WebTerm offers a realistic CLI experience instantly, without risk! It’s the most frictionless way to explore and learn the command line.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m back with a big update to WebTerm, a browser-based terminal for learning the CLI with no setup. This version adds support for `rm -rf /` (safely!), wildcards like `*`, better interactions for beginners, and more real commands and options. If you’re curious about the command line — or just want to try `rm -rf /` without killing your machine — give it a spin😄 Would love your feedback, thoughts, or even bug reports. Thanks for checking it out!
