I’m Yicheng, the maker of DETECTIVE.OS.

I’ve always loved noir detective stories, but most mystery games feel static and predictable once you’ve played a few cases. I wanted to build something where every investigation feels alive, where suspects talk back in surprising ways, and where you really have to think like a detective instead of clicking through a script.

DETECTIVE.OS is my attempt to solve that: an AI-powered murder mystery game where each case, suspect, and conversation can unfold differently. You interrogate AI-driven characters, cross-check their stories, and dig through evolving evidence inside a retro OS interface.

During development I iterated a lot on how “smart” the suspects should be, how much freedom to give players in questioning, and how to keep cases solvable but not trivial. I’m still learning and tuning the balance.
