I wasn't planning to share this publicly, but figured there might be enough folks out there who'd find it useful.

A lot of AI tools in the audio space feel exploitative. Suno trains on artists' work without consent, then sells a product designed to replace craft. That's not assistance. That's extraction.

I wanted to build something different.

My wife is a sound designer. She has deep knowledge of how audio works, what makes a compressor feel right, how reverb should breathe. But turning those ideas into her own custom plugins? That required learning C++/Rust, DSP math, build systems, pretty much a whole second career.

So I built freqlab, a desktop app that lets you create audio plugins by describing what you want in plain english. You ask the chat, it writes the code, and you hear the result in real-time.

freqlab has built-in audio preview tools so you can test your plugin with signals, samples, or live input before ever exporting it. It also includes real-time stereo, amplitude, and waveform monitoring to see how the plugin is affecting your signals.

It's open source, and available at https://freqlab.app with a name-your-price model.

macOS and Claude Code only for now. Depending on feedback, I'm open to adding OpenCode support and other supporting platforms.
