I’ve worked in tech for nearly 20 years, but cooking has always been my escape from screens and the internet. Over the past couple of years, I found myself chatting with AI a lot about cooking: techniques, recipe tweaks, flavor ideas. Those chats were helpful, but they always felt like dead ends. Once the conversation was over, everything disappeared into a static transcript. ChatGPT would offer to generate graphics or pdfs of the recipe or technique info, but I usually found myself having to continuously make it refine the output. Sousy (pronounced soo-ee, like sous chef, although she won't mind if you call her Susie) was born from that frustration. It’s a cooking companion you can actually keep working with: chat about anything cooking-related, search the web for recipes that fit you or what you have, manage real recipe cards, plan meals, build grocery lists, and cook with guided, step-by-step help... all in one place, designed to feel warm and intuitive rather than utilitarian. The app is largely free to use. You get 30 AI messages per month, and full access to everything else: recipe management, Guided Cooking, grocery lists, weekly menu planning, and household sharing. A subscription simply unlocks more messages. This is a soft launch of the web app (built to work well on both desktop and mobile). Native iOS and Android apps are coming soon, including deeper integrations with iOS system features. I’d truly love feedback, especially from people who cook regularly and care about the experience as much as the result. Thanks for checking it out 🙏
