I'm Rich, co-founder of Cited.
The Story
After college, my best friend and I started a business doing SEO for local clients. We were good at it, until we weren't.
Suddenly, people stopped scrolling SERP’s. They started asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI engines instead. They stopped at AI Overviews. Even when “SEO optimized,” our clients' traffic plateaued. Our old playbook didn't work anymore.
We realized: if AI doesn't cite you, you don't exist.
So we asked ourselves: How do we help businesses become the sources AI actually recommends?
The answer to that question became Cited.
The Problem
AI search engines decide what to reference and recommend. Most businesses have no idea how to influence those recommendations.
