RentSense NL

I’m working on RentSense NL because I repeatedly saw the same problem from different angles: people signing rental contracts they don’t actually understand, not because they’re careless, but because the system makes it hard to do otherwise. In the Netherlands (and increasingly across Europe), renters are often under heavy time pressure. If they don’t sign quickly, they lose the home. The law is public and well-defined, but translating legal text into “what this means for me in practice” is difficult, especially for internationals, students, and first-time renters. As a result, many people only realize what they agreed to when something goes wrong later. RentSense NL exists to close that gap. Not by giving legal advice or judging contracts, but by helping renters understand what they’re reading before they sign. The goal is simple: reduce uncertainty at the moment it matters most, so fewer misunderstandings and disputes arise later. I’m building this because I believe clarity should be the default, not a privilege reserved for people who speak the language fluently, know the system, or can afford legal help upfront. RentSense is a small, focused step toward making the rental process more transparent and less intimidating, without changing how the market or the law works.
