Baby naming shouldn't end in arguments. NameHatch turns the overwhelming process into a fun game for couples. Swipe through 59,000+ names Tinder-style, see instant matches, and discover names you both love...without the debates. From first swipe to final choice in days, not months.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋🏼
I’m Jeremy, and I built NameHatch after spending months stuck in naming limbo with my wife.
I didn’t expect naming a baby boy would be this hard. Every name I liked, she shut down. Every name she liked, I just couldn’t picture saying forever.
We didn’t have a giant list... we had no list. Lol basically endless debates and zero progress.
I figured, “There has to be an app for this.”
There were a few on the app store, but they felt clunky, tons of ads, and just really awkward to use. That’s when I decided to build the tool we actually needed: something clean, intuitive, and easy for couples to match on names they both love.
NameHatch is a web-based app (works on desktop or mobile) that makes naming feel less like a negotiation and more like a shared experience.
- Filter by preferences, styles, and gender
- Swipe through thousands of curated names
- Match instantly when you both like the same one
- AI-powered suggestions that get better as you swipe
It’s fun, fast, and built for modern people, not spreadsheets.
A lot of early users tell me they’re surprised how fast they align once they start swiping.
We offer flexible monthly or bi-annual pricing, and you can try it free to see what names you match on.
👶 If you’re expecting, congrats! I’d love to hear what you think, and what features would make this even better.
Thank you so much for checking it out!

Hey Jeremy,
Congratulations on the launch today!
I used an app similar to this for naming my two children with my wife. I have some suggestions or feedback for things you can do for the future to make it even better:
You could add filters, because me and my wife are very scientific about naming our kids, and we wanted to make sure that for example they did not have names which could be misspelled. So my name for example can be spelt Phillip, Philip, Philipp, or Filip. Other filters might be that a country of origin is specified or that the name be androgenistic (or the opposite).
Allow multiple people to give suggestions on the names, but only allow the parents to see the suggestions and the names. So for example, if the future grandparents like particular names, they can swipe, and the parents can see this and it can help them to make decisions on the names. (It would also get you more users per baby, thus improving your business model.)
Finally, it might be cool if you've picked a name to get some background information about that name, whether it's the origin or etymology of the name, famous people who had that name, stuff like that.
Good luck today!
@philliphamnett Appreciate it, and that's interesting feedback. Thanks for sharing!
Congrats on launch day, Jeremy! 🎉
When I was pregnant, we didn't name our baby for 2 weeks after birth. The debates were endless - every suggestion got shut down, family members kept chiming in, and we were stuck.
I wish NameHatch existed back then. The Tinder-style matching is genius - it removes the awkward rejections and focuses on what you BOTH actually like.
I've been working with Jeremy behind the scenes on the data side - we analyzed 148 Product Hunt launches to optimize everything from timing to visuals.
Excited to see this go live!
Question for you, Jeremy: What's the most surprising name match couples have discovered so far?
@shuqing_ke Love that you're a part of this! Oh wow, that's a great question on the name match. Would love to hear from new couples in the comments.
