rcmnd is a fashion app that lets you shop 15k+ selvedge denim, vintage workwear, and military inspired fashion items. We use LLMs that make search actually work. You can search for something like "selvedge denim that fits like the Levi's 501" or "relaxed fit wide leg neppy jeans". We aggregate reviews, discussions, fit checks, and more from Reddit, TikTok, and YouTube on product pages. We also generate deep research to help you understand fit, sizing, fade potential, material, etc.
I've been frustrated with online shopping for menswear for as long as I can remember.
I got this idea back in 2018 because I was trying to find halfway decent looking jeans on Amazon and I just couldn't find anything that was quality and that looked good.
That made it so I had to find smaller brands from all over the internet from newsletters and small retailers. That was annoying too because it was time consuming.
I just wanted a place that aggregated stuff I liked and had Amazon quality search and reviews.
Enter 2018 and I tried to build this pre LLM and it turns out building search for fashion items is really hard using keyword search.
Enter 2024 and I tried to build this again with LLM technology and it was a completely different ballgame.
I was able to use LLMs to build search that actually works for fashion items as well as to aggregate all the content about these niche brand's products from around the internet.
I hope you like what we've built! I would love to know what you think, what features you'd like to see, and I'd also love it if you sent me search queries that didn't meet your expectations and why it didn't.
We've got also some fun features coming soon:
1. Watchlist - add an item to a watchlist if it doesn't have your size and we'll let you know when it's back in stock and also (optionally) send other similar items to your inbox.
2. Reviews - we're rethinking what reviews look like. we're thinking of making reviews more like a reddit post where you review a fashion item in the context of an OOTD, a six month fade review, or fit check.
We think we'll probably move away from an explicit star rating and just analyze the content of the post itself and score it internally (something we do for existing aggregated reviews from social channel).
3. Guided search - we'll ask you questions that help you refine your search and help you find what you're looking for even if you don't know exactly how to describe it
