What do you think? …

Ardalan Mirshani
👋 Hey Product Hunt! I’m Ardalan, one of the co-founders of MyLens AI. We’ve been playing around with this idea for a while, and today we’re finally sharing it — AI Timelines for YouTube videos. YouTube is huge — full of amazing talks, podcasts, interviews, and deep dives. But most of us don’t have time to sit through hours of video every day. We wanted a way to remove the unnecessary sections and help people watch and understand key parts 10× faster — to see what are the key topics inside the video first and then jump into just the parts that matter to them — watch a few minutes here and there to get the main points quickly. So we built this: Paste any YouTube link, and MyLens AI instantly creates an interactive timeline of the video’s key moments. You can: 🧠 Click any point to get the AI citation and jump to that exact moment on YouTube 🔍 Expand sections to reveal more context or insights 🎯 Drill Down to go deeper and understand each part with details. It’s been surprisingly fun and insightful to use — perfect for professionals, teams, researchers, and educators who learn and share knowledge through video. Would love to know what you think — or drop a long video link and we’ll show you how it looks as an AI Timeline. — Ardalan & the MyLens Team
Masum Parvej

@ardalan2 This is exactly what YouTube has been missing.

Ardalan Mirshani

@masump Thanks so much, Masum! 🙌 YouTube is such a rich but complex source of information for skim, and we’ve spent years exploring how effective visualizations can make dense content way easier to grasp. For this use case, an intuitive timeline felt like the clearest visual to explore a hard video’s structure. Really glad it resonates.

Fernando Scharnick

@ardalan2  This is such a smart direction, YouTube is overflowing with incredible long-form content, but actually processing it is becoming impossible for most people. The interactive timeline idea hits that sweet spot between summary and exploration: you still get the context, but you can jump straight to what matters.

The AI citations + deep-dive sections are especially impressive. Feels like a superpower for researchers, founders, and anyone who learns through podcasts and talks.

Are you planning team features later on? Something like shared timelines or collaborative highlights would be a game changer for knowledge-sharing inside companies.

Congrats to you and the MyLens team, excited to try this on a few 2-hour interviews I’ve been avoiding.

Ardalan Mirshani

@fernando_scharnick Thanks so much, Fernando — really appreciate this.

We feel the same: as professionals, we constantly hear about great talks and interviews but rarely know which parts matter. You end up skipping or watching random fragments. A big motivation for us was helping people surface those “unknown unknowns” in long videos and jump straight to the meaningful sections.

And yes — we already have a growth plan for teams where members can collaborate, with support for very long YouTube videos and other content sources.

Thanks again for the thoughtful note — can’t wait to hear how it works on those interviews.

Fernando Scharnick

@ardalan2 Absolutely, that “unknown unknowns” point resonates a lot.

I’ll definitely try it on those interviews, looking forward to seeing what insights pop up!

Tetiana

@ardalan2 Firstly I thought that I have some timelines, so it felt irrelevant to me. Then I tried, and: "Wow, that's realy cool"

Ardalan Mirshani

@tetiana_hryshmanovska Really happy to hear that - thanks Tetiana.

Derek Brambles

@ardalan2 This is super cool, Ardalan, huge congrats on the launch 👏

Long-form content is exploding, but most of us honestly dont have time to sit through hours of interviews or podcasts just to find the meaningful parts. The way you’re turning videos into something explorable at a glance hits a problem I think a lot of us feel daily.

Love the idea of combining summary + exploration instead of forcing people into one or the other. The interactive timeline feels like a really natural way to “see the structure” of a video before committing to the time.

I’m building a product in a totally different space, but the theme is similar, helping people get value without forcing them through the old, slow workflows. So I really appreciate the thoughtfulness in your approach here.

Excited to try it on some long interviews I’ve been putting off, congrats again to you and the team!

Ardalan Mirshani

@derek_brambles Thanks so much, Derek — really appreciate the depth of this.
Totally resonate with what you said about helping people get value without forcing them through slow workflows — that’s been a guiding theme for us too.

Nika

Currently testing and it looks pretty clean, like the whole visualisation of my interview with @byalexai

Ardalan Mirshani

@busmark_w_nika Glad the timeline feels clean — that’s exactly what we hoped for: turning long conversations into something people can instantly grasp and explore at a glance. Excited to hear how it works on more of your interviews.

Nika

@ardalan2 Can it work a similar way when I upload the script? :D

Aleksandar Blazhev

@busmark_w_nika wow! Looking incredible! Maybe because of the host. Or the guest/speaker! xDD

Nice tool! Especially helpful for podcast legends like Nika!

Ardalan Mirshani

thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙌

Nika

@byalexai you are a great co-host :D

Kate Ramakaieva

Great launch @ardalan2

The timeline makes it so much easier to skim long interviews, just tetsted it out! Are you planning an API or integration?

Ardalan Mirshani

@kate_ramakaieva Thanks so much, Kate! 🙌 Our vision is to make any complex source of information explorable, so opening things up with integrations and an API is a natural next step for teams and products. Really appreciate you asking — it’s definitely on our radar.

💡 Bright idea

This is really amazing for PPTs and websites. But if you provide a vertical version for mobile, it will be amazing
Great job. Congrats on the launch!

Ardalan Mirshani

@chilarai Great point, Chilarai — and thank you! 🙌 We actually offer vertical and horizontal layout options in some of our other visuals already, and we’ll be bringing that flexibility to timelines as well soon. Really appreciate the feedback!

Alex Cloudstar

Chapters are hit-or-miss and my arrow keys are tired. If this maps key moments better, that’s a win. Curious how it handles sponsor blocks and meandering podcasts. Trying it on a 2h lecture now.

Ardalan Mirshani

@alexcloudstar Totally feel you on the arrow-key fatigue, Alex. One of our first motivations for building this was exactly that — there’s so much in long videos that we don’t know we don’t know, and we end up skipping around just to figure out what’s covered.

The AI also naturally removes sponsor sections when they’re not part of the meaningful content. Curious to hear how it does on that 2-hour lecture!

Mattias Blomqvist

I always lose track in long videos, so something that shows the main parts is really lil my pain. Does it work the same for videos that have no talking like game videos or travel vlogs?

Ardalan Mirshani

@mattias_blomqvist Thanks Mattias — totally get that pain! 🙌
Right now it works for videos with speech, since the AI relies on the content to understand the structure. For videos with little or no talking (like gameplay or travel vlogs), we’re working on bringing in visual understanding so it can map those too.

Ritik Kumar

Congratulations on the launch 👏

MyLens for YouTube brings real clarity to long-form content this is a smart and practical upgrade for anyone who learns through video. Excited to see it grow.

Ardalan Mirshani

@ritik_nyraai Thanks for giving it a try
