Subject: Introducing AIvestor: I built an AI agent to do my small-cap research (and trading) for me.
Hey everyone,
I'm the founder of AIvestor, and I’m so excited to finally share what I’ve been building.
Why did you build this?
To be honest, I built AIvestor to solve my own problem. I've always been fascinated by the high-growth potential of small-cap and micro-cap stocks, but investing in them is a nightmare.
The core issue is a massive information gap. Unlike Apple or Google, these companies have almost zero analyst coverage. Finding them feels like searching for a needle in a haystack, and vetting them means spending 10+ hours digging through SEC filings, obscure forums, and financial data across a dozen different browser tabs.
My workflow was a mess: I’d use one tool for ideas, another for financial data, a third for news, a fourth for technicals, and then finally log into my broker to place a trade.
I looked at the new wave of AI tools and saw a massive opportunity. What if I could build a single, intelligent agent that could do that entire 10-hour workflow for me... in 10 seconds?
That’s AIvestor.
What’s new and unique about your launch compared to alternatives?
Most AI investing tools are just "ChatGPT for finance." They’ll summarize an earnings report or a news article, and that's it. They don't do anything.
AIvestor is different. It's not just a research tool; it's an end-to-end investing agent. The magic is in the synthesis of its tech stack:
It’s a Discovery Engine (not just a scanner): Instead of using rigid stock screeners, AIvestor uses the Perplexity AI API to scan the web for ideas and narratives, the way a human analyst would. You can ask, "find me small-cap stocks in the renewable energy space with new patents."
It’s an Analyst (not just a data table): When you ask to "analyze {ticker}," it doesn't just give you a table of P/E ratios. It fetches deep financial data from QuantiQ.live and feeds it to GPT-5 to generate a human-like BUY, SELL, or SHORT recommendation with a full justification.
It's an "Alpha" Hunter: This is what I love. You can ask, "check house and senate trades for NVDA" and it will instantly pull that data from QuantiQ. It also checks social sentiment and Google Trends to see what the crowd is thinking.
It’s a Trader (a closed loop): This is the key. When GPT-5 gives you a BUY recommendation, a "Trade" button appears right in the chat. You click it, and AIvestor executes the order for you via the Alpaca API.
Other tools are fragmented. AIvestor is the first platform I've seen that truly connects the entire process: Discovery → Analysis → Alpha-Seeking → Execution → Tracking. All from a simple, conversational chat.
What are you most proud of in this launch?
Honestly, I'm most proud of the integration. Getting all these powerful, specialized APIs, Perplexity, GPT-5, QuantiQ, and Alpaca, to "talk" to each other and work seamlessly within a simple Streamlit chat interface was a huge challenge.
It feels like magic when you type "find stocks," see a list, ask "analyze the first one," get a full thesis back, and then click a button to buy it.
I didn't just build another dashboard. I built a co-pilot.
I’ll be here all day answering any questions. I can't wait to hear what you think!
