The Story 📖

The idea for Slash started from a frustration we’ve all faced as builders and data enthusiasts — creating web scrapers or browser automations is either too technical or too time-consuming.

We saw developers spending hours debugging Playwright or Puppeteer scripts, and non-coders completely locked out of the process.

We wanted to make web automation accessible to everyone — whether you’re a developer, a data analyst, or a startup founder trying to validate an idea fast.

Slash.cool is genius—type “scrape HN front page” and boom, a working Playwright script drops out. No XPath tantrums, no hallucinated selectors, just AI that actually looks at the DOM before it codes. The fact I can edit, cron-job, and share the script means I keep full control while the robot does the boring stuff.

One itch: when the AI hits a site it’s never seen (think funky React hydration or shadow-DOM forms), how often does it need a human nudge?
