Right now, Lumid understands and responds in English. But we know emotional expression isn’t limited to one language so multilingual support is definitely part of what we’re working toward.

Yes, the facial emotion recognition feature is being designed to work seamlessly with standard webcams. Accessibility is a core priority for us, and we want to ensure that users can benefit from emotional insights without needing any high-end equipment. Given that it processes emotional cues how do you handle privacy and consent especially when it comes to analyzing video or voice data?

Thank you for raising such an important question — privacy and consent are absolutely foundational to how we’re building Lumidai.
At this stage, Lumidai operates entirely through text-based interaction, without analyzing voice or video data. However, as we move into Phase 2 and Phase 3, we plan to introduce voice recognition and video therapy capabilities to deepen the emotional connection and therapeutic impact.
These features will be strictly opt-in, with clear consent flows and robust privacy protections in place. Even then, no user data — voice, video, or text — will ever be stored or used for training. Our commitment is to provide meaningful emotional support without ever compromising trust or user safety
Emotional intelligence in AI is a significant advancement. How well does the chatbot pick up on subtle emotions especially when it comes to different cultures?

That’s an excellent question, Woody — and a very important one in the context of emotional intelligence.
Currently, Lumidai has been trained primarily on emotional and psychological data from India, which allows it to recognize many subtle emotional cues within that cultural framework. While this gives it strong contextual understanding in that region, we’re deeply aware that emotional expression varies across cultures. Expanding Lumidai’s emotional literacy to reflect diverse cultural nuances is a key part of our roadmap. Our vision is to create a truly inclusive AI that resonates with people from all backgrounds — with empathy, sensitivity, and respect.
I love that you’re prioritizing emotional context over just smart replies. Can users tweak the chatbot’s tone to be more empathetic or formal?

At this stage, Lumidai intuitively adjusts its tone in real time based on the emotional flow of the conversation. However, we recognize that giving users the ability to fine-tune that tone — whether more empathetic, neutral, or formal — adds an important layer of personalization. It’s a capability we’re actively developing to enhance emotional alignment and user comfort
I gave it a try and it honestly feels more like chatting with a real person than most AI bots I’ve encountered.
