backends, upload chores, and balloon exits

gm legends

Today: a 3D hangout your remote team keeps between meetings, the open-source backend that finally speaks native Postgres, and a Safari extension writing your YouTube titles while the video is still uploading.

Also: two days left to get your GPT-6 Astra Challenge launch locked in for Friday. Keep scrolling for the details.

Build with Astra, win big prizes

Two days to go. We teamed up with OpenAI Developers to launch the GPT-6 Astra Challenge on Product Hunt, and launch day is this Friday, September 18.

GPT-6 Astra is built for complex, multi-step work—from software engineering and research to workflows that require judgment and follow-through. Build something useful with Astra, launch it on Product Hunt, and compete for API credits and ChatGPT Pro subscriptions.

Already building with Astra? This is the chance to put it in front of a wider audience. Friday is three days out, and the schedule button is right there.

Tip the iceberg!
  • flat.socialAbsurdly delightful 3D spaces where remote teams hang out

flat.social builds your remote team a permanent 3D space where you walk up to someone to talk and the sound follows the distance. When you're done you walk away, or leave on balloons if the exit deserves drama, which is a real feature Paweł lists with complete sincerity. The space stays up between calls, so there's surfing, football, an arena shooter and pink scooters filling the minutes you'd normally spend muted, staring at a grid, waiting for stragglers. It's a from-scratch rebuild of the version he first launched here in 2022. Remote work never replaced the joy of wandering over to someone's desk just to yap, but this gets somewhat close. It kind of feels like Club Penguin for adults.

  • Framer 3.0Framer 3.0 put a design agent on the canvas

Framer 3.0 is the design agent for every step from idea to launch, and it works alongside you, not instead of you. Describe the site, watch the agent build real pages on the canvas, then edit anything it made: breakpoints, components, code, CMS, SEO. Branching gives it a safe place to take the big swings so you merge only what you want. Already living in Claude, Cursor or Codex? Point them at Framer and ship from wherever you work. Not just vibes, a full platform. (sponsored)

  • Appwrite 2.0The open-source cloud for agents and developers

Appwrite 2.0 is the rebuild of the open-source backend Eldad Fux has been running since 2019, and he opens the launch by naming his own product's problem: convenience came with a tax. You took their APIs, their SDKs, their data model, and the day you needed something they hadn't covered, you were writing plumbing around the platform or leaving it. So the sequel goes native Postgres, the thing their community has asked for loudest for years, plus an OAuth server and S3-compatible storage, everything still open source, and the console got a live feed of what your project is doing while it does it.

  • CreatorHatYouTube SEO tools for Safari featuring Apple Intelligence

CreatorHat is a Safari extension for YouTubers that picks up the part of uploading nobody enjoys, the titles, descriptions and tags you're left to figure out after the actual video is done. Nathan Kontny makes videos himself and built this around dead time: it transcribes your video while the upload runs, so Apple Intelligence has drafted the metadata before YouTube has even finished receiving the file. Everything happens on-device, no extra AI subscription, which has quietly become the toll of this category. One warning that applies to every tool in the space, this one included: YouTube doesn't publish real search volume, so every keyword number you'll ever see is an educated guess.
