Worlds, memory, typos

gm legends

Today: a model that builds the parts of a room nobody photographed, a Mac that remembers everything you saw and heard, and one shortcut that fixes your typing in every app you use.

Your Mac sees all
  • Atlas by World LabsTurn text, pics, video, + 3D into camera-controlled HD video

Atlas is a world model from Fei-Fei Li's World Labs, and the demo is two people filming a scene on their phones and getting back a short film containing shots neither of them took. It freezes time, swings the camera round to angles that never existed, and fills in the corner of the room nobody pointed a lens at. Text, photos, video or 3D go in, 1440p and up to a minute comes out, on the theory that nothing understands the physical world until it can reason about space first.

  • OmiAsk your computer anything you saw or heard

Omi watches your screen and listens to your meetings, so you can hold a key in any app and ask your Mac what on earth you did yesterday. It cites itself: every answer names the meeting, the time and the screen it came from. Nik Shevchenko started Omi two years ago as a pendant that remembered your conversations, and what people kept asking for was that it know more about their lives, so now it sits on your desktop watching all of it, open source and MIT licensed so you can go and read exactly what it keeps.

  • TidyFix grammar in any Mac app with free on-device AI

p>Tidy fixes your typing anywhere on a Mac with one shortcut: select the text, hit ⌃⌥⌘T, and the caps-lock accidents and the words you always get wrong are corrected in place. Eric Greene built it because he was editing two thirds of the Slack messages he sent, always for the same few reasons. A second shortcut takes an obviously AI-written paragraph and rewrites it back to whatever it meant, and all of it runs on the Apple Intelligence model already sitting in your macOS, the one nobody has ever switched on.
