A thousand hours of Ancient Egypt you can walk around in a browser tab, an alarm that lets your AirPods pick the minute, and an AI agent you can FaceTime right now. Plus the maker whose Mac app was broken for four months and nobody told him.

Expeditione is an interactive 3D encyclopedia you move around inside your browser. The first one is Ancient Egypt: five handcrafted scenes covering family life, quarrying, temple life, the Nile Delta and the Pyramids, with things to click on in each. Aureon de Veyra (@aureon) did the research, modeling, animation, interaction design and writing on his own, and it's free with no login, no ads and no trackers.

🔥 Our Take: Ubisoft did a version of this, the Discovery Tour mode in Assassin's Creed Origins, with a studio and a budget behind it. Aureon built five scenes by himself and put them in a tab, so there's no game to buy first and nothing to install. A thousand hours is a wild amount of time to spend on something you then hand out for free, and I can't really figure out why he did it, which is sort of the reason I like it.

AirAlarm doesn't want an exact wake time, it wants a window. You fall asleep with your AirPods in, playing its own sounds or audio from any other app, and it aims the alarm at the end of a 90 minute sleep cycle somewhere inside the window you set. Native SwiftUI built on Apple's AlarmKit by an EdTech maker in Japan. Sleep history stays on the phone, and there's no account, no Apple Watch, no ads and no analytics. English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.

🔥 Our Take: Sleep Cycle has done the wake window thing for over a decade with nothing but the phone's microphone on the nightstand, so what's actually new here isn't the window, it's that none of it leaves your phone and nobody is keeping a profile of your nights. The cost is that you have to sleep in AirPods, which is a bigger ask than putting a phone face down on a table. Worth it if you already fall asleep to a podcast, and probably not if you don't.

Chert puts an AI agent on FaceTime. In a few lines of code it answers and places calls, watches whatever you point the camera at, and talks back live, which Gary Gao's team is pitching as Vapi for FaceTime. The jobs they're going after: remote support that can see the cable, telehealth intake, onboarding that walks you through it.

🔥 Our Take: You can test it without signing up for anything, FaceTime +1 310 279 2297 and hold up whatever's confusing you. Voice agents have always been stuck with whatever the caller can put into words, so the moment the problem is a cable or an error message, a person has to take over. The limit is that FaceTime is an Apple thing and mostly an American one, and this gets a lot more interesting the day it works on WhatsApp.
