One sentence becomes an app

gm legends, happy Wednesday.

Today: a free local alternative to Lovable and Bolt that skips the token markup, Wispr Flow's bet that your meeting transcript matters more than the summary on top of it, and a Mac app that gives every key its own sound so your ears catch what your eyes miss.

Lovable and Bolt, minus the rent

Capacity turns plain English into real apps, built and stored on your own Mac instead of someone else's cloud workspace, with your own AI key billed at cost. Made by Baptiste and Samuel, a two-person team, free with no sign-up.

🔥 Our Take: They love what Lovable and Bolt made possible. They just didn't want the rent that comes with it, marked-up AI credits, code stuck in someone else's cloud. It's a bet that enough people building small apps would rather own the thing than keep paying for whatever that markup was funding.

The transcript finally gets names right

Wispr Flow Notetaker keeps your mic and everyone else's audio as two separate streams instead of one muxed-together feed, and pulls names from the calendar invite before the call starts, so the transcript says Sarah instead of Speaker 2. Free to try, Mac only, from the team behind Wispr Flow's dictation app.

🔥 Our Take: Almost nobody rereads a raw transcript, but every summary and action item gets built on top of one, and Tanay Kothari is betting a single mislabeled speaker poisons everything downstream from it. Granola and Fireflies compete on how the summary reads. Notetaker is betting the summary was never the weak point, the capture under it was.

Your keyboard tattles on you

Keytones gives uppercase, lowercase, space, and modifier keys their own distinct sound, so your ears catch an accidental Caps Lock before your eyes do. Built by Stefan Keller, who's been making native Mac apps since 2006.

🔥 Our Take: Four knobs per key group, pitch, length, damping, volume, because the goal here is catching a stray Caps Lock, not making your Mac sound like a typewriter. Twenty years of native Mac craft shows up in that kind of granular control, not the pitch deck. One-time purchase too, so Stefan's betting people pay once for the sound instead of renting it forever.
