Codex vs Claude

This newsletter was brought to you byVanta

Code by Conversation

gm legends, happy Friday.

Here’s today’s lineup: Codex lets you talk to your code in the terminal and in IDEs like Cursor and Windsurf, from quick refactors to test stubs you can ship; MAI Voice 1 gives Copilot a new in-house voice you can try in Daily and Labs, built for faster, more natural replies; Grok Code Fast shows up in editors like Cursor and Windsurf and rolls into Copilot preview with a free window to try.

P.S. Building something new? Tell us about it → editorial@producthunt.co 🫶

Talk To Your Code

Codex turns plain English into working code in your terminal and inside your favorite IDEs like Cursor and Windsurf. Ask for a function, a refactor, tests, or a CLI scaffold. It reads your repo, proposes diffs, runs commands, and explains what changed without yanking you out of flow.

🔥 Our Take: OpenAI finally looks serious about programming. Hitting both the shell and the editor matches how people actually build. Rough in a change at the prompt, tighten it in Cursor or Windsurf, ship. The bar is simple now: stay fast, respect the codebase, narrate your moves.

Microsoft Talks Back

MAI Voice 1 is Microsoft’s new in-house speech model for Copilot. You can try it in Copilot Daily and Copilot Labs. The promise is simple: more natural delivery, faster replies, and voice answers you can stand to hear across the Microsoft stack.

🔥 Our Take: When I think of voice AI, I think ElevenLabs. Big companies have mostly treated voice like an add-on to text chat. With Microsoft stepping in, expect Google and others to shift some energy toward voice too but that is only happening if MAI Voice actually lands and people keep it on instead of muting it.

Grok on the Keys

xAI’s API brings Grok Code Fast into your workflow. It runs in editors like Cursor and Windsurf and is showing up in Copilot, too. Ask for a function, tests, or a refactor and get diffs you can ship. You can try it free right now inside the tools you already use.

🔥 Our Take: We just covered Codex in this newsletter. Now Grok shows up in the same lane with a strong coding first swing. The kicker is access. It’s already in Cursor and Copilot for free, so people will actually try it this week instead of bookmarking a demo. Let’s see which model becomes the default tab when you’re under the gun.

Some Shiny New Updates ✨

Our devs have been running on a balanced diet of espresso shots and questionable amounts of energy drinks, which means… you guessed it: fresh updates are here.

  • No more Coming Soon. Every new product now starts with a Forum thread so you can share progress, collect followers, and answer questions before launch.

  • Pull a launch if you need to. There’s a big red self-delete button for launches when plans change.

  • Better Alternatives. We refreshed the page so comparisons are clearer and side by side.
  • Smarter footer. You’ll see hot categories and active threads to help you find what’s buzzing.

Got feedback or a bug to swat? Tell us in the thread and we’ll jump on it.
