No matter how much time and effort you put into optimizing the designer-to-developer pipeline, your team will likely still encounter bottlenecks. Converting a design into a product, pixel for pixel, is no easy task, but what if you could automate most of it?
Locofy is a Singpore-based, front-end development platform that wants to help makers ship their products 10x faster by employing AI, and it’s got the backing to do it, too, after raising $7.5 million from investors like Accel and Northstar Ventures.
Having originally launched in 2022, the team is back with its latest product, Locofy Lightning. Locofy Lightning is a Figma plugin that takes your design and converts it into deploy-ready, front-end code with just a single click.
It’s built upon the company’s own Large Design Models (LDM), which analyze visual assets before transforming them into code, similar to how GPT-4 understands what you’re asking and responds appropriately.
According to co-founder Honey Mittal, Lightning is an evolution of the team's original offering, which at the time made users go through a number of steps before getting the final output. After receiving feedback from over 250k developers, designers, and builders, the team set out to build a more seamless experience by condensing all these steps, like tagging, grouping, and class names, into a single click.
Once you generate your code, you can then review it along with your team of developers and designers with an interactive preview so you can make sure there isn’t a pixel out of place.
Locofy Lightning is currently only available on Figma, but it might be making its way to other platforms like Sketch, Adobe XD, and even Notion later on in the year.

😲 Invest in Reddit: In an unexpected move, Reddit is giving an unspecified number of its active members, like moderators and users with high karma scores, the opportunity to invest in the company’s IPO. That’s something usually saved for high-profile investors who get to purchase stock at a lower price before the big day.
🦜 Unhinged birds: A green bird has taken over social media. You know the one, probably because you’ve seen him go viral everywhere — it’s Duolingo’s bird mascot, Duo. We already knew the bird was a master of social media, but seeing the company’s rocketship growth on a chart is a creator’s dream
