Engineers 🤝 PMs
This newsletter was brought to you byDigitalOceanHappy HumpDay! Did you know that this week marks the 43rd anniversary of Microsoft agreeing to write an OS for IBM. The rest is history.
Here’s the news:
Nintendo is making a live-action Zelda movie – My inner child is screaming right now.
Rockstar is planning to reveal GTA 6 this week. 10 years after GTA 5 was released.
Instagram is testing a feature allowing you to turn off read receipts – Finally.
Making life easier for Engineers and PMs
Engineers and Product teams rejoice, there might finally be a solution to the good old feud between PMs and Engineers when adding just one more thing.
If you work in tech, you’ve probably been there or witnessed it from the sidelines. The back-and-forth debate between engineers and PMs on adding one more thing. It can easily suck up time and resources from both teams. All the while, it will likely be something dismissed by the user in the end.
CommandBar has been around for a while, and its goal is to solve this by giving product teams the ability to build actual good user assistance tools themselves without relying on engineering.
Now the team has set its focus on mobile apps, launching a platform designed to help product teams assist their mobile users with things like pop-ups, onboarding tours, help docs directly in apps, and more.
According to the Co-Founder, James Evans, the team initially resisted building a mobile app, but after digging into it, they noticed something.
“In hindsight, I actually regret not launching a mobile product sooner. When we dug into it with our customers who have mobile apps, it became clear the problems we solve on desktop are even more acute on mobile”
The limited screen space, rushed nature of mobile usage, and the existing sub-par mobile user assistance experience made it clear that CommandBar had a place in the mobile world.
The team’s looking for feedback (or just some friendly banter on horrific mobile experiences you’ve had to deal with), so head to the comments if you want to contribute.

Inference should feel simple. Once AI hits production traffic, you're really managing routing, retries, observability, GPU bills running while nobody's home.
DigitalOcean Serverless Inference handles all of that in one API — OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible, 55+ models including Claude, DeepSeek, Qwen, and Llama. Scale to zero when you're not using it. Pay per token when you are. VPC and zero data retention on by default.
230 tokens/sec on DeepSeek V3.2 — 3.9× faster than AWS Bedrock (Artificial Analysis). Runs on the same bill as your databases and Kubernetes. One less thing to reconcile.
