Why are 5 person startups building microservices for users they don't even have yet?

We ve normalized setting up Kubernates clusters and distributed database before getting a single paying customer.

A $20 server with a simple, boring monolith can handle 100k users easily. Yet developers spend months managing deployment pipelines instead of shipping features.

When did simple, pragmatic engineering become something to be ashamed of?

Does posting rejected threads hurt you on product hunt? how does approval actually work?

Had a thread rejected recently, still not fully sure why.
Got me wondering about a few things and figured i'd just ask directly instead of guessing.

Does getting a thread rejected affect your account in any way, algorithm, visibility, standing, anything like that? or is it just a one-off, no consequence, try again kind of thing?

Also curious how the approval process actually works. is it a human reviewing each thread, some automated filter, a mix of both? trying to understand what actually triggers a rejection so i'm not accidentally repeating the same mistake without knowing what it was.

If anyone from the team or anyone who's been rejected before can share how this actually works, would genuinely appreciate it.

Every number that says your AI product is working arrives before the one that says it isn't

AI apps convert trials 52% better and churn annual subscriptions 30% faster. The flattering metric lands in week one. The honest one lands in month twelve and by then you've already spent money on the gap.

Here's a pairing I can't stop thinking about, and both halves come from the same dataset.
