CEO @ Refactyl —Automated Code Migration

About

I’m building Refactyl to solve a problem I ran into repeatedly as a backend engineer: production codebases that needed migration, but were too risky to rewrite. Refactyl helps teams migrate real-world production systems between frameworks with clean, reviewable diffs — not black-box rewrites. It’s built for messy codebases: • little or no test coverage • years of accumulated middleware • business logic you can’t afford to break Under the hood, Refactyl combines AST analysis, dependency graphs, and constrained AI transformations to safely migrate framework-specific code while keeping business logic untouched. Currently focused on Express → Fastify. More migrations coming next. Always happy to talk infra, migrations, and production systems.

What’s the most painful legacy code migration you’ve dealt with?

Everyone talks about legacy code, but the pain looks different for each team.

For me, it s usually:

  • Framework upgrades breaking hidden assumptions

  • JS TypeScript migrations taking weeks

  • Refactors that stall feature work

Curious what s been hardest for you:
