About
I'm a lifelong diver (33 years) and a PhD statistician. DiveSight grew out of one of my research projects: a fish-abundance forecasting tool that became the dive-planning app I always wished existed. My goal is to help divers plan exceptional and safe dives with the best ocean intelligence possible. Much of what makes a dive good or risky—water clarity, where the life is, what the conditions will be—is hard to know until you're in the water. I want that knowledge in a diver's hands ahead of time, for any site on Earth. I also want DiveSight to give back. Through marine life logging tied to global biodiversity records, divers' sightings feed real value back to the professional and citizen-science communities, the same data my research depended on.
