Owner, TotalGuard. Building Workely.

About

I own TotalGuard Yard Care, a lawn care company in Madison, WI. My brother Ashton and I got tired of missing leads after hours, so we built Workely to quote, text, and book them automatically. Happy to talk shop about pricing, home services, or SMS automation.

Workely - Quote and book every home service lead, automatically

Be first to every lead. When a customer fills out your website form, Workely prices the job from your own rules and gets the quote ready with a link to book a time. Approve it, or turn on auto-send and it goes out on its own. Anything unclear or over your price ceiling waits for you. Then it follows up at 1 hour, 1 day and 3 days until they book or say no. Built by two Madison brothers who run a pressure washing company and a lawn care company.

🎯 What are modern marketing approaches that work?

Making a product is one big challenge. But shifting your mindset from building to marketing it might be an even bigger one.
As makers, we spend so much time improving the product. Then comes the question: How do we get people to discover it - and ultimately turn that attention into real customers and sales?
I'm not sure traditional approaches like email marketing and constantly posting on social media are enough anymore. The way people discover products is changing.
So I'm curious:

How do you approach marketing your product?
And for the marketers here:
What would you consider a modern marketing approach in 2026-2027? What would you advise an early-stage founder to focus on?
I'd love to hear different perspectives...

How do you promote your product without sounding too salesy?

I've always struggled with promoting my own work. It always felt a little awkward because I grew up in an environment where drawing attention to yourself wasn't really encouraged.

That's not exactly ideal when you're trying to build a business, and even less so when marketing is literally how you make a living. :D
