Upon completing his Ph.D. in music composition from Princeton University, Van Stiefel delved into the creation of chamber music, ingeniously incorporating the electric guitar with a myriad of instruments and computer-generated sounds. His establishment of the Sap Dream Quartet and their performances at esteemed festivals such as the New York Guitar Festival and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival showcased his innovative approach to music. His contributions to the music world include albums released on New Focus Recordings and additional recordings on Mode and Innova labels, with his compositions being performed by leading guitarists worldwide and published by Da Vinci Publishing.
