What's great

real-time collaboration (1)clean interface (1)simple to use (1)sprint management (1)ai summaries (1)

I have been following Kanbanq since its early development, and I am genuinely impressed with how polished it has become. Although we can't roll it out company-wide at Typeform just yet because it lacks enterprise features, my team and I have been using it personally, and we love it.

Kanbanq helps keep you focused without clutter. The dual-board setup is clever—your backlog remains accessible without distracting you from your current sprint. My team appreciates how simple it is to self-manage, making it perfect for small groups.

The real-time collaboration offered is excellent. With live cursors and instant updates, team conversations flow naturally—there’s no more refresh fatigue or wondering if someone else is editing the same card.

The AI-generated sprint summaries provide useful insights with zero effort. I find myself genuinely reading the email reports with my morning coffee now; the recommendations are concise and make sense. And the UI Easter eggs? They are a delightful touch. Subtle nods to films, games, and sci-fi make it feel more human. The Warcraft reference, "Stop poking me!" even made me laugh.

What needs improvement

limited integrations (1)

Enhanced Git integrations would be highly beneficial, and I'm aware they are on the way.

Support for MCP would facilitate seamless connections between various tools.

Additionally, enterprise features like Single Sign-On (SSO) would be valuable for larger teams, although it is still in the early stages of development.

Overall, an increase in integrations would help reduce the need for constant tab-switching.

vs Alternatives

Kanbanq addresses a long-standing need by offering a straightforward, Trello-like user experience combined with essential features for running iterations and planning sessions.

Is there keyboard-first navigation for quick task edits?

There are some shortcuts, but not for everything yet. They cover the basics and offer some help, but they are not at the level I want.

The founders say a complete set of shortcuts is coming, and that keyboard-first use is a core part of the roadmap, so I expect this to improve significantly.

How secure is data storage and AI processing?

It currently runs on Firebase, which is suitable for small teams.

There is no encryption yet, but the founders say this is on the way.

For now, it is sufficient for personal use, but enterprise features will be necessary once encryption and SSO are implemented.

Can we customize AI tone and rules for summaries?

Not yet. The AI is currently limited and primarily focused on sprint summaries. It does the job, but control is minimal.

The founders have announced that a full assistant will be available soon, offering task suggestions, document conversion and importing, as well as more control over tone and rules. I am looking forward to that.
