I'm excited to get this new book out into the world! It’s blue. And about making websites mostly a long time ago. And how IE6 was brutal. And Verdana at 11px was superior. And how the web is still a (beautiful) duct-taped mess.

Twenty Bits I Learned #3A little book about lessons learned making websites
A 3rd little hardcover in the series with mid-century aesthetics & arguably-artistic doodles. Dan Cederholm shares a nostalgic retrospective looking back on 20 years of SimpleBits and the web design shenanigans he got into back in the early days of the web.

Inspired by old video game labels, Cartridge is a new display sans-serif that evokes quintessential 80s vibes. I was obsessed with the Atari 2600 as a kid, and this font is an homage to its chunky, iconic cartridges.

As a designer, I’d always been interested in creating type, but turning those designs into a working font seemed impossible. I spent my quarantine time finally learning how to make a font properly—then documenting that process in a book for other designers.

Inspired by lettering I found on the ferry from Woods Hole to Martha's Vineyard here in Massachusetts, Ships Whistle is a monoline, display sans-serif. Great for signage and way-finding and maritime vibes.

For years, I’ve walked by several of these “Vault Alarm” boxes on the side of old New England banks. “Someday, I’d love to turn that lettering into a font”, I’d say. I finally made that a reality! Vault Alarm is a chunky, quirky, display sans-serif.

Vault Alarm FontA strong & safe sans based on New England bank lettering.
After retiring from co-founding, Dribbble, I reflected on 20 things I'd learned as a designer-turned-entrepreneur. It's a fun little hardcover book with mid-century aesthetics that collects those thoughts along with some arguably-artistic doodles.

I’m passionate about exploring, gear, design, making stuff, photography, and intentionally misspelling words. Advencher Supply Co. is an intersection of a whole host of interests for me and I couldn’t be more excited to see where it leads. My mission is to create things I would use, being genuine and useful, paying a bit forward from each sale, and sharing the journey of designing and making...
