Does anyone actually read YouTube comments for insights?
A few months ago I was trying to understand why one of my YouTube videos bombed compared to a similar one that went viral. I spent 3 hours manually reading through comments, copy-pasting into spreadsheets, trying to find patterns.
That's when I built Commetry a Chrome extension that analyzes any YouTube video's comments in seconds using AI. Sentiment breakdown, recurring themes, audience questions, content ideas all from the comment section.
I've been testing it on big channels (MrBeast, Kurzgesagt, Linus Tech Tips) and the insights are genuinely surprising. Turns out audiences talk about very different things than what creators think they care about.
On one MrBeast video, 23% of comments were asking about a topic he's never covered. That's a free video idea sitting in plain sight.
My question to this community: If you're a creator, marketer, or analyst how do you currently make sense of audience feedback at scale? Do you read comments manually, use any tools, or just ignore them?
