About

I make small Mac apps that do one thing, cost money once, and never ask for an account. Tidy is the main one: it reads what's inside your files and names them accordingly, entirely on your Mac — nothing uploaded, nothing deleted. I build from Santiago, Chile. Most of what ships comes from people writing to me: six of the last ten Tidy releases started as someone's email.

Tidy 2.9: a safety net for AI agents

Letting Claude, Cowork or Codex loose in a folder is great until it "cleans up" something you needed.

2.9 adds a safety net: protect a folder first (from the panel, or right-click it in the Finder). Tidy keeps an instant copy that takes no space. Afterwards it tells you in plain words what was moved, renamed and deleted, and brings it all back in one click. What the AI created stays; nothing current is overwritten.

I tested it with a real Claude agent told to "clean up this folder, delete what you don't need": it deleted 6 files and moved 18. All 25 came back, byte for byte.

Rename also reads more formats now: saved emails, calendar invitations, contacts, EPUB books and screen recordings.

Tidy 2.1 is out — all 9 changes came from your reports

Three weeks ago Tidy launched here, and 133 of you now follow it thank you.

Version 2.1 shipped this week, and every one of its 9 changes came from user reports and requests. Among them:

"Tidy older files" for any folder you watch, not just new arrivals

Export and import your rules as a file, to share or move between Macs
