Not only are other calorie counting apps too complicated, but they all charge monthly fees because the APIs behind them are egregiously expensive. $300/month for 200 active users on Nutritionix. Not to mention the NDB API is down due to lack of federal funding https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list It is truly quite a mess in the nutrition API space.

I had to chime in after reading all the negativity about the new subscription model. It comes out to $6-8 a month, that is nothing compared to all the time and trouble Tower saves most of us that use git on a daily basis.
