Many buses operating as Flix are third party and not of the standard green color. In these buses, the seat numbering goes from 1 to 56. But Flix assigns seats like 3A, 7D etc. Confusion for both drivers and passengers. More dwell time at stops. Also, rows 1 to 12 are numbered as is. No 13. So after row 12, the next Flix row is 14, and then 20. BUT, 20 is only the driver side. Passenger side is 15! Some fleets attach stickers on the overhead bins. Some don't. They peel off 🙂

I have noticed first hand the confusion while travelling in intercity buses in North America. This is essentially the bus manufacturer and the ticket aggregator speaking two different seat numbering languages, leading to unnecessary dwell time at stops and buses running late. As long as any system has an invariant (the actual physical seat), the languages used to describe those can be translated.
