Just a couple days ago I shared with you that I like bootstrapping my projects. In some way this makes me feel independent and motivated to achieve whatever I set as a professional goal. I wanted to ask you guys your thoughts on this, since I also know that bootstrapping can come with its downsides.
Curious to know what the top hunters think about this question. If I needed a tool that could help me do conversational AI but at least tens of thousands if not millions of minutes per month, which would be the most cost effective on the market?
Couple of months ago I realised I was spending way too much time checking my emails/slack/whatsapp to the point it's deteriorating the quality of my work. I also realised I was going places and wondered: why the heck can't I answer my emails whilst on the go? Am I the only person who would find it magical to be able to speak to an AI personal assistant which understands my people and answers my emails (on my instructions, of course)? So, I then randomly found Tyler Bosmeny @bosmeny a YC partner is also talking about this. Quite reassuring to see: I'm not crazy. But then came the mic-drop moment when I spoke to a blind person. They kept telling me about how unproductive were screen readers and so I thought this idea would be perfect for them
As an indie app developer who bootstraps projects, sometimes I can't help but think that one day when savings are gone, I must find a way to sustain my digital business, and perhaps I should run it on donations. I'm working at Nomadful, a digital health company with a simple mission: to provide anyone holding a phone with free, high-quality mental health services. As of today, my mobile app has accompanied over a thousand people through their unique journeys with mental health.
Have you ever ran a business on donations? What have you done to support those who run on donations?
