Rick Torrey of Killington is the former owner and CEO of Basin Sports, Out Of Bounds Snowboard Shop, and True Wheels Bike Shop. Also known as Richard Torrey, he turned his love for skiing and mountain biking into a lifelong career. Now retired, his journey into business ownership was fueled by a deep connection to the outdoors and a steady drive to succeed through hard work and persistence. Before building his retail businesses, he worked as a programmer during the mid-1970s and later held a technical support role at an insurance company. While his skills in programming were strong, his most notable contribution was designing improved access methods for system development. This task exceeded what many major firms could achieve at that time.
