Hi! I'm Connor, I study the future of work in Seattle and give business therapy to makers. AMA! 👋

Hi makers! Connor here. I run a podcast/interview series called "The Orbit" in which I interview web-based creatives who run their own small businesses online. Through a combination of YouTube, Instagram, Patreon, and e-storefronts, they are able to turn their hobbies into their professions, bringing in thousands of dollars a month across various platforms. All of this sounded a bit "too good to be true", so I started asking questions and learned that these folks are, in truth, doing the work of at least five people. As budding entrepreneurs, they haven't figured out the process completely, and a lot of the time feel overwhelmed or lost with the "business side of things". Seeing this need, I repositioned "The Orbit" to provide consultation services that I call "business therapy", because sometimes you just need to talk about it with someone who understands. This led to the creation of my book "Sustainable Loops" (illustrated by my partner Cheyenne Barton) which serves as a pocket-guide for honing in sound productivity habits and business practices. It's currently available on Amazon if you want to check it out. As far as the interviews themselves, they are on YouTube and podcast, which you can find links to on my Twitter: @connorthemiller. Are you a web-based creative? Do you want to know more about the future of work? Are you interested in small, decentralized, and independent companies and communities online? Ask me anything!

Hi I'm Andy, ask me anything about bootstrapping, angel investing and portfolio careers.

Hi Makers , I'm Andy, author of Breaking into New Careers and EIR working on an Angel Investing School for patient capital, AMA I've had a portfolio career, starting off as a management consultant, before cofounding a bootstrapped startup (that my brother still runs today), starting a business within a business twice, developing my craft as a product manager, to joining the Obama Foundation Emerging Leaders programme and being named in the FT as a Top 10 BAME Leader in Tech. Recently published a new ebook called Breaking into New Careers for career transitioners who want to develop a personal brand, attract new clients as they freelance and balance working on their side projects. I believe the first page of Google is your new CV and this book explores how you can own it! Here to answer any questions about bootstrapping, angel investing, diversity in tech, portfolio careers, journaling, writing, transitioning into new careers, startups, personal branding, mental models, guiding principles, product management and me!

What is your first app you begin your day with?

It feels good to wake up every day to log Into the first app which was once just an idea in our head and now is used by many others. What is your first app you begin your day with?

I'm Ryan, Head of Product Strategy at Basecamp and author of Shape Up. Ask me anything!

Hi Makers! I've worked on all levels of the software stack, from UI design to back-end programming to strategy. I've spent over 16 years at Basecamp and designed features used by millions and invented processes our teams use to design, develop and ship the right things. These days I'm focused on strategy: understanding what our customers are trying to do and how to make the product fit them better. My new book is called "Shape Up: Stop Running in Circles and Ship Work that Matters" it's all about how product development happens at Basecamp. I also talk about it in this week's episode of Product Hunt radio. I will be logging in to answer questions on Friday 20 September at 10:00am MT.

What’s the #1 thing that blocks your creativity?

I think for me it's overwork.
