Raj Devarajan grew up in India with a steady focus on medicine from an early age. At fifteen, he entered Madras Medical College, beginning medical training while many of his peers were still considering their future paths. That early start reflected the sense of purpose that would continue throughout his career. After completing medical school, Raj Devarajan, MD, moved to the US for further training. He completed residencies in adult psychiatry at Yale University, child psychiatry at Harvard University, and internal medicine and gastroenterology at Tufts University. When his fellowship ended in 1994, he had gained experience across several areas of patient care, broadening his understanding of how physical, behavioral, and psychological factors can affect health.
