Building Formfeed, a document API

About

Developer from Germany. I build Formfeed on my own: an API that turns templates and JSON into PDFs, e-invoices and images, for code and for AI agents. What I care about: documents checked where they're made (ZUGFeRD / Factur-X, PDF/UA, PDF/A), templates that live in Git with tests, and errors that name the rule that failed instead of just saying something did. I'm here to see what other makers build, especially developer tools, APIs and anything around invoicing and automation. Happy to talk about PDF rendering, Chromium's print quirks and e-invoicing in Europe.

Most boring thing you automated this year?

For me it's invoices. Every month I had to go on 15 different tools to download them for our accountant, I hated it. Now it runs alone. Not sexy but I'm quite happy with it.

What about you? And was it worth the time to set it up?

Hi, I'm Philipp, building a document API from Germany

Hi everyone, I'm Philipp, a developer from Germany.

I build Formfeed on my own: an API that turns templates and data into PDFs, e-invoices and images, for code and for AI agents.

Most of my days go into the unglamorous parts of documents: tables that break across pages, e-invoices that have to pass the EN 16931 rules (Germany is phasing in mandatory e-invoices between businesses), and tagged PDF/UA files.
