Peter Rentrop, MD, celebrated two critical milestones in 2023 that underscore his lifelong contributions to cardiology. The first is the 45th anniversary of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), a procedure he pioneered in 1978, which has since become the standard treatment for heart attacks. PCI has significantly lowered the mortality rate for heart attacks, saving millions of lives worldwide. The second milestone marks the 30th anniversary of the American Society for Nuclear Cardiology, a professional organization that Peter Rentrop MD helped establish as a founding member in 1993. Originally from Cologne, Germany, Peter Rentrop, MD, now calls New York home.
