I’m a Founding Engineer at Finisterra Labs, where I’m helping build Baselight - an AI platform that gives grounded, trustworthy answers by relying on real, verifiable data. I’ve spent about 25 years working across software, data, and distributed systems. Along the way I did a PhD in Computer Science, spent time as a researcher and lecturer at the University of Lisbon, and worked in digital health as CEO of Maxdata Software and later as VP of Data Science at LetsGetChecked, where I led teams building predictive analytics and clinical automation. Many years ago, I received the IBM Scientific Award (2007) for my work on secure and resilient distributed systems.
