Building private, native-first apps

About

Independent developer building privacy-first products across self-hosted infrastructure and native Apple platforms. I’m currently building Prismedia: one private media library for requesting, managing, watching, listening, reading, and browsing across web, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Why does self-hosted media still feel like five separate products?

My media is already one collection, but using it means crossing a chain of unrelated apps: discovery and requests, acquisition, metadata, files, then playback or reading. Each handoff repeats identity, setup, state, and troubleshooting.

I m building Prismedia around the opposite idea: the movie, book, album, or audiobook stays the same item from the moment someone wants it through acquisition and finally watching, listening, or reading it. The server and web workspace are self-hosted, with native iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV experiences on top.

Before launch, I d love concrete feedback from people who run their own media stack:

  • Which handoff loses the most context today?

  • Would a unified operations workspace or a better native consumption experience matter more to you?

  • What would an app need to prove before you trusted it with more of the lifecycle?

Prismedia - One self-hosted library for your whole media lifecycle

Prismedia turns a fragmented self-hosted media stack into one connected library. Discover and request titles, follow acquisition, fix metadata, manage files, then watch, listen, read, and browse without losing the item’s identity or your progress. Video, music, audiobooks, eBooks, comics, images, and galleries get purpose-built experiences across web, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV—while your media and library state stay on infrastructure you control.

Kairos - Sexual Activity and Libido tracking and trends

Kairos is a privacy-first iOS app for sexual health tracking with local-first data, dual-lane insights, and warm clinical design. See insights into your libido, or "desire", and understand how health points and your partner's desire changes and interacts. The app also is full featured for solo tracking, as well as partnered activities, and heavily customizable.
