butbetter is a tiny Mac app that rewrites selected text directly where you type
Select text, press one shortcut, and it replaces the text in place - no copy/paste loops, no switching tabs, no side panels. Your words, but better.
It lives quietly in the menu bar with minimal settings, designed to stay out of the way. No accounts, no API keys, no model choices, no “BYOK” setup, it just works out of the box. Works in any app: Slack, email, docs, browsers.

Apps where it doesn’t work (yet)
butbetter is supposed to work anywhere you can select text on Mac. That said, there might be some edge cases and apps where selection behaves differently. If you run into an app where it doesn’t work as expected, please drop it here. I’ll track these and try to improve compatibility.
