6 months ago we set out to build a smart ring for India. Here are 3 things we learned that surprised us:
1. People don't want more data they want less anxiety. Every extra metric we showed in testing made users MORE stressed, not less. We stripped the app back to what matters.
2. Families are the missing use case. Our testers kept asking "can my mum see this?" "can I check on my dad?" The family angle wasn't planned users demanded it.
3. Screen-free is a feature, not a limitation. No display means no notifications, no distraction, no checking your finger every 5 minutes. People loved the calm.
